Les parsiennes

À Paris, sur la terre, la terre qui est un astre...

For this Friday Fashion Fantasy, JAMIEShow's Demi Couture Ginny, Grace, and Eshe transform yet again via wigs and dress to become elegant ladies of fashion.  And they travel all over the world modeling styles inspired by Parisian high fashion.

JAMIEshow's resin ball-jointed Demi Couture (on sale now, as per George González) offer the possibility to have one hundred dolls in one - all it takes is the time for collectors to express their creativity.  It's not a new concept as fashion dolls are meant to model fashions. But these superbly crafted ladies take the idea to another level with their smooth resin bodies, magnificent face-up designs, and easy-to-change hairstyles. With a different wig cap (or wig) the doll is new to the eyes. And what can we say about the way they make older styles look new and more dynamic? We will allow the accompanying images do the talking...

Déjeuner du matin...Elle a mis du sucre dans la tasse de café...

Demi Couture Ginny models Integrity Toy's suit designed for Victoire Roux by Chris Stoeckle. Her hair is Demi Couture Eshe's wig cap that Dolldom's stylists relaxed into soft waves. Jewelry from Mattels' BFMC.

Mon amour
Ma beauté
Et te trouver
Là où tu es.
Demi Couture's Grace is seductive in black from head to toe. Mattel's Robert Best-designed Givenchy gown and stole lend velvety luxury while vintage Midge's top-knot wig takes Grace to the stratosphere of high glamour.

Quel jour sommes-nous
Nous sommes tous les jours
Mon amie
Nous sommes toute la vie
Mon amour

Demi Couture's Eshe closes the show in an early Jason Wu design for Integrity Toy's Fashion Royalty line. The suit is adorned with jewelry from Mattel's BFMC and a picture hat by James Bogue.

Star Exquisite

Star Exquisite

A Tribute to Miss Gene Marshall on Her Twentieth Anniversary

"I loved the name Gene because it was not only the name of one of my favorite movie stars but the basic unit of human characteristic. I decided Gene would be about being human." - Mel Odom

Mel Odom's Gene Marshall, elegant Silver Screen goddess, has made the world hold its breath with her beauty, charisma, and acting talent ever since her debut in 1995. And just like legendary star Joan Crawford, who went from MGM to Warner Brothers and then became an independent actress, Miss Marshall has adapted to the many changes in the fashion doll collecting market in order to continue to share her magic. After twenty years gracing thousands of collections and allowing us to bask in the platinum glow of her cinematic life, Gene Marshall, the groundbreaking doll of the 1990's, is nothing but a Star Exquisite.

Falling in Love Again

It happens. And when it does, it's a wonderful feeling. Love regained. In love once again with someone already loved.

JAMIEshow's Marlena doll is a Dolldom treasure, much loved and enjoyed. Nonetheless she the perfect illustration of that falling-in-love-again occurrence. Her wig cap, blonde and shiny, arrived just a few days back from the beauty salon of Kathy Johnson, hairstylist to Miss Gene Marshall and one of the most popular names in reconstruction of hair. Mrs. Johnson is a treasure in the fashion doll collecting community for her unique ability to sculpt hair and to tame out-of-control tresses. When Dolldom's editors saw Marlena's refreshed wig cap, there was no doubt that the event ought be commemorated with a photo portfolio. And a song. Perhaps one of Marlene Dietrich's iconic tunes. We could not be more in love. Thank you, Mrs. Kathy Johnson!

Falling in love again
Never wanted to
What am I to do?
I can't help it

Love's always been my game
Play it how I may
I was made that way
I can't help it

Men cluster to me
Like moths around a flame
And if their wings burn
I know I'm not to blame

Falling in love again
Never wanted to
What am I to do?
I just can't help it

Angel for Life

Tonner Doll's Sindy is the quintessential blushing bride in her "Bridal Bliss" iteration. And could there be a better way to celebrate Sindy than with David Bowie's "The Wedding Song" from the album Black Tie, White Noise?

These are silver wings
These are golden eyes
These are floating clouds
Angel for life

Dreaming alone and I feel that someone
Listens to me
Angel for life

These are silver wings
These are golden eyes
These are floating clouds
Angel for life

Heaven is smiling down, heaven's girl in a wedding gown
I'm gonna be so good, just like a good boy should
I'm gonna change my ways
Angel for life

Of all the saints alive
Don't I feel like a saint alive
She's not mine for eternity
Though I'll never fly so high
I'm smiling

I believe in magic
Angel for life

The Visit

DeeAnna Denton visited. The original version of the Tonner Doll Company doll in all of her voluptuous uniqueness stopped by to talk make-over talk and to model. For what else do fashion models do?

DeeAnna Denton was manufactured by TDC in 2008 as a seventeen-inch tall doll using the company's Lara Croft athletic body, crafted in fine vinyl and hard plastic, hand-detailed eyes, and high-heel feet. Later, the line of dolls was reduced to sixteen-inches and although still voluminous, the magical sex-appeal of the first body sculpt was somewhat diminished. Needless to say, the original seventeen-inch size is much coveted by collectors.

When DeeAnna arrived, we noticed that she had had some work done. She confided, "Liz Cole of Retros not only sews by hand the most amazing fashions but she also enhances faces to complement the look of her fashions. So why not, I said to myself?"

DeeAnna's new look boasts a seductive bee-stung mouth, a strategically-placed beauty spot, and character-heightening eyebrows. The subtle changes have quite an impact.

To make the transformation even more dramatic, DeeAnna changed into a Retros' re-interpretation of the Miss Seventeen doll's most iconic look: "Rage of Paris"! The rest is for you, dear readers, to enjoy!

A 1960's Love Affair

Tonight marks the end of an era: AMC's Mad Men commences its last season. To mark the event, Dolldom decided to style one of it's most beautiful stars to evoke the feeling of the era so precisely depicted for seven seasons on this flawlessly written, paced, and acted drama.

So how to pay homage to the 1960's? The right model is a must. She will be channeling a heady combination of vibes: Bettie, Joan, Megan, Peggy, even Sally who's all grown-up. Enter JAMIEShow's 2012 Winter Season Eshe with strong eye make-up boasting peacock-blue eyeshadow to compliment her sapphire-blue eyes. The master stroke has to be the assertive application of indigo eyeliner to her upper lid. The look is perfect for her contemporary fur and brocade style and hard cap bob wig by Ilaria Mazzoni for Time of Doll.

But it ain't Mad Men style!  Enter Retros by Liz Cole and another wig by Ilaria Mazzoni for Time of Doll. And suddenly Eshe becomes the essence of 1960s chic.

Retros' vintage brocade sheath is slinky and slender.

The fake cigarette (just like in the show) is a cute prop, also by Retros.

Viva Mad Men!
